RBI awareness event for MSMEs on International MSME Day

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) organised a special awareness programme for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and entrepreneurs in Jalandhar on the occasion of International MSME Day. The event underscored RBI's long-standing commitment to strengthening India's MSME sector, widely recognised as the backbone of the nation's economy.

Chief Guest Highlights RBI Initiatives

Vivek Srivastava, Regional Director, RBI Chandigarh, served as the chief guest. Speaking at the event, he emphasised that the RBI has consistently championed the MSME sector through initiatives such as Priority Sector Lending (PSL), TreDs, Collateral-Free Loans under CGTMSE, guidelines on Credit Proposal Tracking System, specialised MSME branches, and restructuring mechanisms. These measures have helped millions of entrepreneurs access finance, grow their businesses, and contribute to India's GDP and exports.

Deep-Dive Sessions on Key Schemes

The programme featured detailed sessions on key government and RBI credit initiatives, including TreDs, MUDRA, PMEGP, PM Vishwakarma, and Stand-Up India. A Canara Bank officer led hands-on sessions to assist entrepreneurs in navigating bank credit processes. The event prioritised women entrepreneurs and first-time borrowers, highlighting schemes such as Stand-Up India, Mahila Udyam Nidhi, and digital onboarding.

Visit to MSME Sports Goods Cluster

As part of the programme, the RBI team visited the MSME Sports Goods Cluster in Jalandhar to assess on-ground challenges faced by entrepreneurs in the sector. This visit aimed to better understand the specific needs and obstacles of the cluster, enabling more targeted policy support.
