NPS Workshop Empowers MSMEs in Bhuj, Focuses on Pension Coverage Expansion

A significant workshop dedicated to the National Pension System (NPS) for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) was successfully organized in Bhuj. The event was a collaborative effort by the Federation of Kutch Industries Association (FOKIA) in partnership with the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), Government of India, and PwC India.

Keynote Address Highlights Pension Role in MSME Growth

Pradeep Kothari, CEO of Gimpex Imerys India Private Limited and a member of the FOKIA executive committee, delivered the keynote address. He spoke extensively on the critical role of pension schemes in fostering MSME growth and enhancing employee welfare. Arvind Thakkar, president of the Bhuj GIDC Association, provided the welcome address, setting a positive tone for the proceedings.

PFRDA Overview Emphasizes NPS Benefits

Devesh Mittal, deputy general manager at PFRDA, offered a comprehensive overview of the National Pension System. He highlighted key features such as portability and tax efficiency, making NPS an attractive option for businesses. Mittal strongly emphasized the urgent need to expand pension coverage among the informal workforce to strengthen social security measures across Gujarat.

Detailed NPS Explanations and Government Schemes

Adarsh Bind, key account manager at SBI Pension Fund, provided detailed explanations of various NPS account types, asset classes, and the onboarding process for MSMEs. Bharat Nakum, an officer from the Kutch District Industries Centre (DIC), shared valuable information about the Atmanirbhar Gujarat MSME scheme, linking it to broader economic development goals.

Interactive Session and Broad Participation

The workshop concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, allowing attendees to clarify doubts and gain deeper insights. Vishal Clark, associate director at PwC India, delivered the vote of thanks, wrapping up the informative event. Representatives from several key associations, including the Bhuj GIDC Association, Anjar GIDC Association, Kutch China Clay Association, and numerous MSMEs, actively participated in the workshop.
