India Domestic Air Traffic Rises to 4.37 Crore in Q1

India's domestic air traffic rose to 4.37 crore passengers in the March quarter, according to data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The figure represents a slight increase compared to the previous quarter, driven by higher travel demand during the period.

March Traffic Details

In March this year, domestic airlines carried approximately 1.44 crore passengers, up from 1.41 crore in February. However, this was marginally lower than the 1.45 crore passengers recorded in March 2025, indicating a modest year-on-year decline.

Flight Delays Impact Passengers

Despite the overall growth in traffic, operational challenges persisted. In March alone, over 1.21 lakh passengers were affected by flight delays, highlighting ongoing issues with airline punctuality and infrastructure constraints. The DGCA has urged airlines to improve on-time performance and passenger handling.
