In a tragic incident late Sunday night, two individuals lost their lives in a head-on collision between two motorcycles on the Kovilpatti–Ettayapuram road in Tuticorin district. The deceased have been identified as Arunpandiyan, 23, a resident of Veeravanji Nagar in Kovilpatti, and Subburaj, 36, from Chidambarapuram.
Details of the Accident
According to police reports, Arunpandiyan was riding his motorcycle from Ilampuvanam towards Kovilpatti, while Subburaj, who had earlier visited Kovilpatti, was returning to his native place. The collision occurred near a private petrol bunk when both vehicles crashed head-on. The impact was so severe that both riders sustained fatal head injuries and died on the spot.
Police Response and Investigation
Upon receiving information, police personnel rushed to the accident site. They recovered the bodies and sent them to the Kovilpatti Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered by the Nallattinpudur police, and further investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution while driving, especially during night hours, to prevent such unfortunate incidents. The families of the deceased have been informed, and legal proceedings are in progress.
