In a significant breakthrough, the Amritsar rural police, in coordination with central agencies, have arrested two individuals following the recovery of two hand grenades. The suspects, identified as Davinder Singh and Rajwinder Singh, were allegedly in possession of explosive materials intended for a terror attack aimed at disrupting peace and harmony in the state.
Details of the Arrest
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kanwalpreet Singh Chahal of Amritsar (rural) revealed that the accused had retrieved a consignment of explosives sent by their handlers from across the border. Investigations indicate that they were awaiting further instructions to carry out the attack. The arrests were made during a joint operation, highlighting the effective collaboration between local police and central security agencies.
Legal Proceedings
A case has been registered under Sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act at the Gharinda police station. The authorities are conducting further investigations to uncover the full extent of the conspiracy and identify any additional accomplices.
