JAMMU: Three mortar shells were discovered in two separate locations in forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, officials reported.
Discovery in Jhanghar Forest and Makri Village
According to officials, two mortar shells were found in the Jhanghar forest area, while another was located at a secluded spot in Makri village of Nowshera sector during the morning hours.
Security Measures and Defusal Operation
The areas were immediately cordoned off, and a Bomb Disposal Squad from the Army was summoned to safely neutralize the mortar shells using controlled methods, an official stated. No casualties or damage were reported.
This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges along the LoC, where unexploded ordnance and abandoned ammunition are occasionally discovered. The swift response by security forces ensured the safety of local residents and prevented any potential harm.
