Trichy Railway Division Marks Level Crossing Awareness Day 2026

Trichy railway division observed the International Level Crossing Awareness Day (ILCAD) 2026 on Tuesday through a series of safety awareness programs conducted at various level crossing gates and stations across the division. The events were designed to educate road users about safe practices at level crossings, aiming to prevent accidents and enhance public safety.

Flag-off Rally and Pamphlet Distribution

Balak Ram Negi, the Divisional Railway Manager, flagged off a rally from Trichy junction to the Central bus terminus. During the rally, pamphlets were distributed to the public by members of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, trainees from the multi-disciplinary zonal training institute, the divisional traffic training school, and the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

Street Play and Mobile Safety Campaign

A street play was performed near the Central bus terminus, focusing on the theme of Do’s and Don’ts to be followed when a level crossing (LC) gate is closed. Additionally, a mobile safety publicity vehicle equipped with international level crossing awareness messages, displays, and a public announcement system was deployed to spread the message further.

Street Plays at Key Level Crossing Gates

Street plays were conducted at multiple LC gates, including gates 13, 16, and 20 between Saliyamangalam and Needamangalam, as well as gates 273, 274, 274A, and 285 between Thanjavur and Kumbakonam. These performances aimed to reinforce safe behavior among road users in a engaging manner.

On-ground Distribution of Safety Materials

S Renganathan, the Divisional Safety Officer, along with the safety team and RPF personnel, distributed pamphlets to road users at various LC gates. This hands-on approach ensured that safety information reached a wide audience, emphasizing the importance of vigilance at railway crossings.

The division's comprehensive efforts on ILCAD 2026 underscore its commitment to reducing accidents and fostering a culture of safety among the public.
