The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) is planning to develop another 20 unused plots in the city facing neglect by transforming them into green patches. This initiative follows the successful conversion of 20 earlier plots into small parks with landscaping and benches for visitors.
Previous Success and Future Plans
According to Suraj Prakash Singh Chaudhary, assistant municipal commissioner, the civic body has already developed 20 such patches by designing small parks with green landscaping and installing benches for visitors to rest. He added that all the wasteland was turned into green patches to prevent encroachment. However, he noted that no pathways have been developed for morning walkers.
Locations of Completed Patches
The patches where development work has been completed include areas along the boundary wall of Mecon, AG Office Chowk, Mishra Chowk, Judge Colony Lane in Doranda, near Jai Hind Pharma, along the boundary wall of Ranchi University, Machhli Ghar, opposite SBI building, Surendra Nath School, near a vertical wall in Judge Colony, before and in Judge Colony, Kanke, in front of JBVNL office, Police Lines, and in front of CM secretariat.
The new project aims to replicate this success on another 20 neglected plots, enhancing the city's green cover and providing recreational spaces for residents. The RMC plans to continue this model to ensure that unused land is utilized effectively and remains free from encroachment.
