IIT Kanpur Launches JoSAA Helpdesk 2026 for JEE Advanced

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Kanpur) has officially launched its JoSAA Counselling Helpdesk 2026, a dedicated initiative to support candidates who have qualified the JEE Advanced examination. This helpdesk is organized by the institute’s Academics and Career Council (AnC) and aims to assist aspirants in making informed and confident decisions during the critical Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process.

Helpdesk Features and Operation

The helpdesk operates through an official WhatsApp community, which became active on June 2, immediately following the declaration of JEE Advanced 2026 results. This platform connects aspirants directly with current IIT Kanpur students from various academic departments. Candidates can access reliable information and authentic insights from verified student mentors. The community includes department-specific doubt groups, general discussion forums, and dedicated announcement channels to ensure timely updates and accurate guidance throughout the counselling period.

Adwait Pandey, General Secretary (UG) of the Academics and Career Council at IIT Kanpur, stated, “The JoSAA Helpdesk reflects our commitment to supporting incoming students with honest, first-hand guidance. We want every aspirant to make a confident, well-informed decision regarding their academic future.”

Guidance Areas

Through the helpdesk, candidates can engage directly with student volunteers from departments they are considering for admission. This provides valuable perspectives on academics, campus life, and future opportunities. Key areas of guidance include:

  • Branch selection and preference ordering during JoSAA counselling
  • Personalized department-specific guidance from current students
  • Academic curriculum and flexibility at IIT Kanpur
  • Placements, internships, research opportunities, and higher studies

Counselling Timeline

The JoSAA 2026 registration and choice-filling process will remain open until June 11. This will be followed by mock seat allocations and subsequent seat-allocation rounds. The helpdesk will continue to operate throughout the counselling cycle, remaining active until the completion of seat allocation in mid-July 2026 to provide continuous support to aspirants.

Registration and Confidentiality

Eligible JoSAA 2026 aspirants can join the official IIT Kanpur Helpdesk by scanning the QR code available on the official poster or by completing the registration form. All registration details will be kept strictly confidential and used solely for verification purposes.

Online Open House

In addition to the helpdesk, IIT Kanpur will organize an Online JoSAA Open House on June 9 at 10 am for JEE Advanced 2026 qualified candidates and their parents. The session will feature the Director of IIT Kanpur, along with deans and senior faculty members. They will provide an overview of the institute’s academic programmes, research ecosystem, campus life, placement opportunities, and student support systems. The Open House will also include an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing participants to directly engage with institute leadership and seek clarifications regarding academics, student life, placements, research opportunities, and the JoSAA counselling process. Further details regarding the Open House are available on the official JoSAA website.
