Noida to Get Third Elevated Road at Rs 700 Crore Connecting Rajnigandha Chowk to Sector 57
Noida's Third Elevated Road: Rs 700 Crore, 5.4 km

The Noida Authority is set to construct a 5.4-kilometre, six-lane elevated road connecting the bustling Rajnigandha Chowk to Sector 57, with an estimated investment of Rs 700 crore. This project will become the city's third elevated road, providing a seamless route for commuters traveling from the DND Flyway towards Greater Noida West and Electronic City, bypassing traffic jams on internal sector roads.

Feasibility and Planning

IIT Roorkee has recently submitted a feasibility report and is now working on a detailed project report (DPR) for the elevated corridor. According to Kapil Dev, Senior Manager of the Noida Authority, the DPR is expected to be completed within two to three months, after which a developer will be appointed for construction.

Addressing Congestion at Rajnigandha Chowk

Rajnigandha Chowk is one of the most congested intersections in Noida, where traffic from the DND Flyway, Sectors 18, 16, and 12 converges. The proposed elevated corridor will pass over Sectors 3, 10, 12, 22, and 57, offering a signal-free journey through this stretch. Officials are also considering extending the alignment further to Sector 60 along Vishwakarma Road.

Current Traffic Challenges

The DND Flyway to Sector 57 stretch currently serves as a vital link for traffic moving between Delhi, Khoda, Noida, and Greater Noida West. However, during morning and evening peak hours, traffic movement slows down considerably between Rajnigandha Chowk and the intersections at Sectors 12/22 and 56.

Existing Elevated Corridors in Noida

Noida already has two operational elevated roads. The Noida Elevated Road, a six-kilometre, six-lane corridor starting near Rajnigandha Chowk in Sector 18, runs above the Master Plan-II Road and provides signal-free connectivity towards Sector 61, NH-24, and Indirapuram. The recently inaugurated Bhangel Elevated Road, spanning 4.5 kilometres, runs over the congested Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera Road from Aghapur petrol pump to the Noida Special Economic Zone.

Other Upcoming Elevated Roads

Two more elevated corridors are in various stages of planning and construction. The long-delayed Chilla elevated road, a 5.5-kilometre, six-lane corridor targeting the heavily congested Noida entry gate, is now 47% complete and is expected to be operational by June 2027. Once opened, it is likely to ease the chronic bottleneck between Mayur Vihar and the Mahamaya Flyover.

Another 1.4-kilometre elevated road is proposed to connect the Mahamaya Flyover with the Yamuna Pushta Road near Sector 94, aimed at reducing pressure on the Noida Expressway. Together, these corridors along the city's north-south spine are expected to absorb rising traffic volumes, especially with the commencement of commercial flight operations from the Noida airport later this month.
