Ludhiana: Three masked men allegedly set a factory owner's car ablaze outside his residence in the Haibowal Kalan area, with the entire incident captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.
According to a First Information Report (FIR) filed by Mohammed Shakir, a resident of Gaganpreet Vihar, the incident occurred on the intervening night of May 30. Shakir had parked his black Mahindra KUV100 in an empty plot directly opposite his house after locking it.
The CCTV footage reveals a Hyundai i20 arriving at the scene with three occupants. The suspects first surveyed the area before one of them stepped out of the vehicle holding a bottle. The individual poured a flammable liquid onto the car and set it on fire. The vehicle ignited instantly with a loud explosion, after which the accused fled the scene in the i20.
Shakir informed the police that he has no personal enmity with anyone but suspects a business dispute involving his brother-in-law. His brother-in-law recently parted ways with a former business partner and joined Shakir. Shakir alleged that the former partner had issued threats in the past.
Investigating officer Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Makkhan Singh stated that a case has been registered under Section 326(A) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police are currently examining the CCTV footage and probing all possible angles, including business rivalry and conspiracy.
