The Election Commission (EC) conducted a training programme in Chandigarh on Friday to familiarize officials from Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh with IT systems and software applications being deployed during the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) exercise.
Objective of the Training
The initiative aimed to build uniform procedural understanding, strengthen IT preparedness, and facilitate seamless, efficient implementation of the roll revision process. By equipping officials with the necessary technical skills, the EC seeks to enhance the accuracy and transparency of electoral rolls.
Key Remarks by Punjab CEO
Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra emphasized the significance of the SIR exercise. She stated that it is a vital process to ensure final electoral rolls remain entirely accurate, inclusive, and up to date. Mitra highlighted that well-trained personnel and the strategic utilization of robust technology are foundational to maintaining the absolute integrity and transparency of the democratic process.
The training covered various IT applications and systems used for data management, verification, and updating of voter information. Officials from the three regions participated actively, engaging in hands-on sessions and discussions to clarify doubts and share best practices.
This effort is part of the EC's broader commitment to leveraging technology for efficient election management and ensuring that every eligible voter is included in the rolls without errors or omissions.
