Bokaro: A technical glitch on the e-Kalyan portal, which prevented a BEd student from applying for a scholarship, was resolved following the intervention of Bokaro deputy commissioner Ajay Nath Jha on Saturday. The issue came to light during a public grievance redressal programme named 'Hum Aapko Sunte Hai' (We hear you), where Chandan Kumar Mahto highlighted how the system was incorrectly categorizing his application as a 'renewal'.
Student's Ordeal
Mahto, who is pursuing a BEd at Mahto Teachers Training College, explained that he had previously studied at Drona ITI and applied for a scholarship for the 2024-25 session. After completing the one-year course, he obtained a transfer certificate and enrolled in the BEd programme. However, the portal automatically placed his application under the renewal category. Since a fresh application was required for the new course, this error prevented him from submitting his application.
Prompt Action by Authorities
Taking cognizance of the matter, Deputy Commissioner Jha directed officials to resolve the issue. Consequently, necessary corrections were made, enabling Mahto to submit a fresh application once the scholarship window reopens. Jha stated, 'The district administration is committed to the prompt resolution of public grievances, especially those related to students.'
