Former Bank Employee Faces Multiple Fraud Complaints

Ludhiana: Days after a former private bank employee was booked for allegedly duping a woman, police have received several more complaints against him from the Jagraon area. Lovepreet Singh of New Ramuwala, earlier posted at a bank branch in Jagraon, had been booked by the Ludhiana rural cybercrime police on a complaint by Parminder Kaur for allegedly cheating her on the pretext of blocking her credit card.

Investigation and Additional Complaints

Investigating officer ASI Jagrup Singh said the accused is absconding and efforts are on to arrest him. “We have received five more complaints, which are being verified as part of the probe,” he stated. The police are now examining these new cases to determine the full extent of the fraud.

Modus Operandi

Preliminary inquiry suggests the accused accessed card details and used them for shopping and fuel payments. Police suspect the fraud could run into lakhs. He had reportedly worked at the branch for 3–4 years and left only last month. Sources said the accused allegedly obtained OTPs from customers on various pretexts and diverted transaction alerts to his own number, keeping victims unaware. He is believed to have changed his contact number, delaying arrest.

Police Advisory

Police urged people not to share OTPs or card details with anyone and said awareness drives are being held in schools and colleges. They emphasized that customers should always verify any calls or messages claiming to be from their bank and report suspicious activity immediately.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to apprehend the fugitive. Meanwhile, affected individuals are encouraged to come forward with any information that may aid the probe.
