Thieves Steal Rs 25 Lakh Cigarettes, DVR in Ujjain

Thieves broke into a warehouse in Ujjain's Madhav Nagar area and stole cigarette stock worth approximately Rs 25 lakh, along with the digital video recorder (DVR) connected to the facility's CCTV cameras, police said.

Incident Details

The theft was reported from a warehouse operated by a marketing agency in the Dussehra Maidan area. According to police, unidentified miscreants broke multiple locks, entered the premises, and stole 25 to 26 large cartons of cigarettes during the weekend.

Discovery of Theft

The warehouse owner, Saurabh Maheshwari, discovered the theft when he arrived at the facility on Monday morning. He had locked the premises on Saturday night, and Sunday was a holiday.

Police Investigation

Madhav Nagar police station in-charge Gajendra Pachori stated, “A case of theft was registered against unidentified persons, and efforts are underway to identify the suspects. Preliminary investigation suggests the accused may have used a four-wheeler to transport the stolen goods.”

The police are examining evidence and reviewing nearby CCTV footage to track down the culprits. The stolen DVR contained crucial recordings that could have helped identify the thieves. Authorities have urged the public to provide any relevant information.
