Thief Steals Gold Set Using Cold Drink Distraction

Ludhiana: A thief employed a classic distraction technique to steal a five-tola gold jewellery set from a Chaura Bazaar store on Tuesday. The suspect had scouted the Pindi Street business the previous day, pretending to select a high-value item for purchase.

Premeditated Theft

Upon returning to the store, the suspect engaged the owner, Aatma Prakash, in conversation and requested a cold drink. This prompted Prakash to send his sole employee out to buy the beverage. The moment the worker left, the suspect grabbed the gold set and fled the premises.

Police Investigation

Prakash provided CCTV footage of the premeditated theft to the Ludhiana police. Authorities are now scanning security recordings to identify the fugitive and gather additional evidence. The stolen jewellery set is valued at a significant amount, given the current gold rates.
