A tragic accident occurred near Dehlon on Monday, claiming the life of a 32-year-old worker employed in the laying of BSNL cables. The victim, identified as Karna Shankar, a native of Sitapur district in Uttar Pradesh, was fatally run over by a container truck.
Details of the Incident
According to the complaint filed by the victim's brother, Deepu, Shankar was resting behind a stationary container truck on a road connecting Lehra and Ghungrana villages. The driver of the truck allegedly reversed the vehicle without noticing the worker. The rear wheels of the heavy vehicle rolled over Shankar, causing fatal injuries. He died instantly at the scene.
Driver Flees After Accident
Following the mishap, the driver reportedly abandoned the truck and escaped from the location. Authorities have launched a search to identify and apprehend the suspect.
ASI Jagjit Singh, who is investigating the case, confirmed that an FIR has been registered based on the statement provided by the victim's brother. Efforts are underway to trace the driver and take necessary legal action.
The incident highlights the risks faced by workers involved in infrastructure projects, especially those working near busy roads. Local residents have expressed concern over road safety and the need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent such accidents.
