Pune: Two Held for Stabbing Worker Over Rs 500 Hafta

The Khadki police have apprehended two young men for allegedly assaulting a 35-year-old daily wage worker and threatening an autorickshaw driver near the Khadki railway underpass. The incident occurred at around 7 pm on Sunday after the victims declined to pay a monthly protection fee of Rs 500 to the suspects.

Details of the Incident

Senior Inspector Vikramsinh Kadam of Khadki police informed the Times of India, “The injured worker, Parshuram Gaikwad (35), a resident of Range Hill, sustained deep injuries in the assault. He has been admitted to a hospital and is reported to be out of danger.” The autorickshaw driver, Gangaram Gaikwad (40), was also threatened by the duo and has filed a complaint with the police.

Arrest of the Accused

The police have arrested Nihal Gawali (20) and Prithvi Pawar (20), both residents of Khadki. According to the authorities, both are unemployed and needed money for their expenses. They spotted Gangaram and Parshuram conversing near the underpass, issued threats, and later stabbed Parshuram.

A case of attempt to murder and extortion has been registered against the two accused. The police are further investigating the matter to ascertain if the duo was involved in similar crimes in the area.
