Deepender Hooda Backs Hansi Village Agitation Over Drinking Water Crisis
Deepender Hooda Supports Hansi Village Water Demand

A 24-day-long agitation by residents of Hansi's Chanot village and surrounding areas over a drinking water crisis gained momentum after Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Hooda visited the protest site and backed the demand for a permanent solution.

MP Calls Demands Justified

Addressing the gathering, Deepender termed the villagers' demands "justified" and emphasized that access to clean drinking water is a fundamental right that should be ensured without discrimination. He questioned how the issue could remain unresolved for more than a decade despite repeated appeals from residents.

Protesters Seek Pipeline Connection

The protesters are demanding a connection to the 36-inch pipeline currently being laid for Hansi city's water supply, arguing that nearby villages should also benefit from the project. Villagers further alleged that the proposed water treatment plant at Chanot Water Works remains non-functional, forcing residents to rely on inadequate and often contaminated water sources.

Deepender stressed that the issue should not be viewed through an urban-rural divide, asserting that every citizen deserves equal access to drinking water. He warned that if the government fails to act, the matter will be raised in Parliament and the Haryana assembly.

The drinking water dispute has become a major concern for the affected villages, with residents claiming they have faced acute shortages and irregular supply for years, despite repeated representations to authorities.
