A man believed to be in his 40s was fatally stabbed in Birmingham's Sparkbrook area on Thursday evening in what police suspect was a targeted attack involving individuals known to each other.
Police response and victim details
West Midlands Police said officers were called to Walford Road at around 6:20 p.m. following reports of an assault. Despite emergency responders' efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at around 7:00 p.m. His family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers.
Murder suspect arrested in Bristol
In a swift development, a 29-year-old man was arrested overnight in the Bristol area on suspicion of murder. Police confirmed that the suspect is being transported to the West Midlands for questioning. Investigators believe the attack was not random and are exploring links between the victim and those involved.
Three others held for assisting an offender
Alongside the murder arrest, three additional individuals were detained in the Bristol area on suspicion of assisting an offender. All four suspects remain in police custody as detectives continue their investigation into the fatal stabbing.
Police appeal for information
West Midlands Police have launched an appeal for witnesses and are urging anyone with relevant information, CCTV footage, dashcam recordings, or mobile phone videos from the area around the time of the incident to come forward. Authorities have also set up a dedicated online portal where members of the public can directly upload evidence to assist the investigation.
