In a recent enforcement drive, Reasi police have registered cases against five pony operators working on the tracks of the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine for operating without valid registration permits. This action is part of heightened security measures across the region.
Details of the Action
A police official stated, "In a continued drive to ensure strict compliance with regulatory guidelines and maintain proper records of pony operations in the district, Reasi police have registered five separate FIRs against pony handlers found operating without valid registration cards."
Accused Identified
The accused have been identified as Yassir Arafat, Imam Shah, and Mohammad Altaf, residents of Mahore in Reasi district; Rashpal Singh, a resident of Kherikote in Reasi; and Sonu, a resident of Chourakote in Reasi.
Advisory Issued
The Reasi police have also issued an advisory urging the public and all stakeholders to adhere to prescribed norms and cooperate with law enforcement agencies in maintaining order and regulatory compliance.
Background of Crackdown
This is not the first time that pony operators without valid licences have been booked near the Vaishno Devi shrine. Following the Pahalgam attack in May last year, the police launched a crackdown to prevent any unauthorised persons from operating near the shrine area. The latest actions underscore the authorities' commitment to ensuring safety and regulatory compliance in the vicinity of the revered shrine.
