Pune Railway Station Worker Arrested for Kidnapping and Sexual Assault of 4-Year-Old Girl
In a distressing incident at Pune railway station, a 30-year-old worker has been arrested on charges of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl. The arrest was made on the morning of February 17, following a swift investigation by the Government Railway Police (GRP).

Senior Inspector Pramod Khopikar of the GRP Pune station police station provided a detailed account of the case. The girl, whose parents are sugar cane farm workers, was sleeping on platform number one of the station with her family. After the sugar cane season ended, the family was traveling from Kurduwadi to Pune, intending to board a connecting train to Madhya Pradesh.
Khopikar explained, "The suspect had boarded the same train from Pandharpur. He was traveling alone and also intended to catch a train to Madhya Pradesh. Around 1:30 a.m., the girl woke up, and so did the arrested worker. He then took her to an isolated spot near Maldhakka Chowk and sexually assaulted her."
The girl began crying due to the pain, prompting the suspect to leave her near the railway station and flee. By this time, the girl's parents had already approached the police, who launched an immediate search operation and found the child.
Investigation and Arrest
Police officers studied the CCTV footage from the area to track the worker's movements. Khopikar stated, "We analyzed the footage and traced his path to the old parts of the city. We located him while he was working there and promptly arrested him." The suspect hails from Chhattisgarh, adding a cross-state dimension to the case.
In response to the severity of the crime, authorities have decided to conduct the trial in a fast-track court to ensure swift justice. Khopikar emphasized, "We are committed to a rapid legal process to address this heinous act."
