In a significant crackdown, Vadodara police have revealed that the newly operational Mumbai-Delhi Expressway is increasingly being exploited by bootleggers as a strategic route for smuggling liquor into the city. Major Interception and Seizure on the Expressway
Acting on a credible tip-off, sleuths from the Rural Local Crime Branch (LCB) conducted a targeted operation on Friday, intercepting a truck traveling along the expressway. During a thorough inspection, authorities discovered hundreds of boxes of liquor cleverly concealed inside the vehicle. The seized consignment, which included a variety of alcoholic beverages, was estimated to be valued at over Rs 80 lakh, marking a substantial haul in the ongoing battle against illegal liquor trade.
The arrested driver, identified as Shinderpal Singh Jaat, was taken into custody immediately following the interception. During subsequent interrogation, Jaat disclosed critical details about the smuggling operation. He revealed that the liquor had been loaded in Haryana and that he had been specifically instructed to deliver the consignment to Vadodara. This confession has provided police with valuable leads to trace the broader network involved in this illicit activity.
