The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) is set to accelerate several infrastructure and civic development projects across the city. These initiatives include widening Bandha Road on Sitapur Road, enhancing sports facilities in Aliganj, and developing drainage and community infrastructure in Janakipuram.
Review of Project Progress
On Tuesday, LDA Vice-Chairperson Prathamesh Kumar reviewed the progress of these projects and directed officials to expedite work and ensure completion within the estimated timelines.
Bandha Road Widening Project
A key project is the widening of the 3.37-kilometer Bandha Road connecting Pakka Pul and Sitapur Road. The road, currently about five meters wide, is being expanded to 15 meters at an estimated cost of Rs 38 crore. Earth-filling work has already commenced, and the project is targeted for completion by December 2026.
According to LDA officials, this stretch serves as an important link between Pakka Pul, Priyadarshini Yojana, and Sitapur Road, witnessing heavy traffic throughout the day. The widening is expected to improve traffic flow and connectivity for residents of Khadra, Madeyganj, Faizullaganj, Priyadarshini Yojana, and adjoining localities.
Sports Infrastructure at Aliganj Stadium
Additionally, LDA plans to strengthen sports infrastructure at the LDA Stadium in Aliganj by adding a swimming pool, an indoor badminton court, and a basketball court. These additions aim to provide better recreational facilities for residents.
Community and Drainage Projects in Janakipuram
In Janakipuram, LDA is planning a community centre and horticulture facilities on a 14,800-square-meter vacant plot near Sargam Apartments on Kursi Road. Work is also underway on a 1.6-kilometer RCC drain between Maurya Vihar and Janaki Vihar Colony at a cost of Rs 3 crore. This project is expected to reduce waterlogging and benefit nearly two lakh residents.
