Chandigarh MC Sets Up 18 Flood Control Teams for Monsoon

Chandigarh: Ahead of the monsoon season, Municipal Corporation (MC) commissioner Amit Kumar reviewed the arrangements made by the civic body to tackle waterlogging and other rain-related emergencies.

Comprehensive Monsoon Preparedness Plan

As part of its comprehensive monsoon preparedness plan, the MC has constituted 18 special flood control teams and operationalized seven flood or waterlogging control rooms across the city. These arrangements will remain in force from June 20 to September 30 to ensure prompt response and effective redressal of waterlogging complaints and emergency situations.

Control rooms will function round-the-clock with dedicated staff deployed in three shifts. A total of eighteen emergency response teams comprising officials from the public health, roads and buildings (B&R), horticulture, medical officer health (MoH), electrical, and fire departments have been deployed at strategic locations across the city.
