RPF Seizes 23 Liquor Bottles from Train at Bokaro

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Bokaro Steel City railway station conducted a successful operation, seizing 23 bottles of Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from the Kosi Super Express. Officials confirmed that a passenger was detained for attempting to smuggle the consignment into Bihar.

Operation Details

Santosh Kumar, the officer-in-charge of the RPF post, provided details of the operation. He stated that the seizure occurred during a routine inspection of the train. Members of the train escorting party alerted RPF personnel about a suspicious trolley bag lying unattended near Seat number 17 in Coach B-1.

Suspect Apprehended

During the subsequent inquiry, a passenger named Nitish Kumar, 23, a resident of Karua village in Saharsa district of Bihar, claimed ownership of the bag. Upon searching the bag, RPF personnel recovered 23 bottles of IMFL. The total estimated value of the seized liquor is approximately Rs 34,450.

Legal Proceedings

During questioning, the accused allegedly admitted that the liquor was being transported to Bihar. Santosh Kumar added, "The seized liquor and the detained individual will be handed over to the excise department for further legal action." The RPF continues to maintain vigilance to prevent such illegal activities on trains.
