The Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) organized a Booth Level Agents (BLA) training camp at Rajiv Gandhi Congress Bhawan in Sector 35 on Thursday, as the Municipal Corporation elections are proposed for December and the special intensive revision (SIR) process is set to commence soon.
Training Camp Highlights
Approximately 200 BLAs and Congress workers from across the city attended the camp, receiving training from a special team deputed by the All India Congress Committee (AICC). The training focused on strengthening booth-level preparedness and ensuring smooth coordination during the upcoming polls.
Key Speeches and Messages
Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari appreciated the disciplined participation of workers and emphasized the importance of grassroots strength in elections. He stated that the true strength of the Congress lies in its booth-level workers, whose role would be crucial in the coming months.
“Every BLA is not merely a worker monitoring votes, but a key contributor to the party’s success. Hard work, vigilance and public outreach at the booth level will form the foundation of Congress’s performance in the MC elections,” Tewari said.
Chandigarh Congress president H S Lucky said the party would focus on strengthening monitoring mechanisms at each booth. He alleged that democratic processes had been weakened in recent years and stressed that Congress workers would ensure protection of voters’ rights.
AICC secretary Chetan Chauhan assured full organizational support to the Chandigarh unit and said activities would be intensified.
Training Session Details
During the session, the AICC training team guided participants on voter list verification, preventing wrongful deletions, identifying irregularities and strengthening booth-level coordination. Workers also raised queries, which were addressed during the interactive session.
This training is part of the Congress party's broader strategy to enhance its grassroots presence and ensure a strong performance in the upcoming Municipal Corporation elections in Chandigarh.
