Lucknow: Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) on Sunday organized a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) workshop aimed at enhancing the mental well-being of healthcare workers at the hospital. The initiative comes in response to an internal assessment that revealed moderate emotional distress among medical professionals, underscoring the urgent need for structured stress management programs.
Workshop Details
The workshop comprised multiple sessions focusing on meditation, breathing exercises, and stress management techniques. Faculty members, resident doctors, and nursing officers actively participated in the program, which was designed to equip them with practical tools to cope with workplace pressures.

Medical Superintendent Prof R Harsvardhan emphasized the importance of integrating structured well-being initiatives within hospital settings. He noted that such programs are essential for sustaining a healthy workforce. Director Prof RK Dhiman highlighted that mindfulness-based interventions can significantly reduce stress and prevent burnout, thereby improving both personal health and patient care quality.
Follow-Up Sessions
Officials announced that four online follow-up sessions will be organized to provide continued support and reinforce the techniques learned during the workshop. These sessions aim to ensure long-term benefits and sustained stress reduction among participants.
