Maths Section Stumps Candidates in UP Police Exam

Lucknow: Mathematics emerged as the most challenging section in the Uttar Pradesh Police constable recruitment examination held on Monday, with candidates across various centres in the city reporting that lengthy, calculation-heavy questions made effective time management difficult.

Overall Paper Balance

Aspirants stated that the paper was largely balanced in terms of difficulty, but mathematics proved to be the deciding factor for many. Contrary to expectations, general studies did not pose as big a challenge as anticipated by several candidates.

Candidate Experiences

Rohit Sharma, a candidate from Gwalior, noted that the language section was straightforward, but the mathematics section slowed him down significantly. “Most language questions were quick to solve, but mathematics took a lot of time. The questions were not tough, but the calculations were lengthy,” he said.

Priya Yadav, who travelled from Delhi for the exam, shared her experience: “The paper was moderate overall, but mathematics consumed more time than expected. General studies had a few analytical questions too. I had to skip some questions due to time constraints.”

Mukesh Meena from Rajasthan emphasized that the mathematics section tested both speed and accuracy, making it crucial for success.

Abhishek Singh from Prayagraj highlighted how mathematics influenced overall performance. “General studies was moderate, but maths was the key section. Many problems involved multiple steps, which affected time management,” he explained.

Shivani Verma from Lucknow described the paper as tougher than she had anticipated. “The language section was easy, but maths and parts of general studies required deeper understanding. The paper was slightly tougher than anticipated,” she said.
