The Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme for Middle Income Group (CLSS for MIG) is a government initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) that aims to make housing affordable for middle-income families. Launched in 2017, the scheme provides interest subsidies on home loans for the purchase, construction, or re-purchase of a house.

Key Points to Remember
Preference may be given to women (especially widows and single working women), SC/ST/OBC candidates, persons with disabilities, and transgender individuals. The interest subsidy is credited upfront to the loan account through Primary Lending Institutions (PLIs) such as Scheduled Commercial Banks, Housing Finance Companies, Regional Rural Banks, and others. Aadhaar numbers are linked to prevent duplication.
The scheme reduces the burden of home loans for middle-income families without a permanent home, lowering both the outstanding loan amount and monthly EMIs.
