Kolhapur: Sumit Kumar Yadav, a 2006 batch Indian Revenue Service officer, has officially assumed charge as the commissioner of the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) in the Kolhapur commissionerate. He was previously posted in Alwar, Rajasthan. His predecessor, D Venkateshwara Reddy, has been transferred to Bengaluru.
Focus on Trade Facilitation and Transparency
After taking over the new role, Yadav outlined his priorities for the commissionerate. He emphasized the importance of enhancing GST collection through trade facilitation, transparency, and effective taxpayer services. He stressed the need for better compliance management and timely resolution of pending GST-related matters. According to Yadav, these objectives can be achieved through digital governance, prompt grievance redressal, and coordinated efforts among all stakeholders.
Digital Governance and Grievance Redressal
Yadav highlighted that leveraging technology and digital tools would be key to streamlining processes and improving taxpayer experiences. He also underscored the significance of addressing taxpayer grievances swiftly to build trust and ensure smooth operations. The new commissioner called for a collaborative approach involving all departments to meet the set goals.
This transition is part of the ongoing administrative reshuffling within the CGST department. The Kolhapur commissionerate is expected to see renewed focus on compliance and service delivery under Yadav's leadership.
